Managing the Unexpected

In an accepted workers’ compensation case involving an employee for a large contract food provider, Lewis & Roberts successfully negotiated a settlement through voluntary mediation and avoided costly litigation. When the employee unexpectedly died before a Medicare Set-Aside account had been established to cover future medical expenses, the lawyers for his widow insisted that the company was still required to fund the account. Lewis & Roberts successfully defended the case before the NC Industrial Commission and NC Court of Appeals.
