- Dan Bryson is quoted in the
New York Post
on the recent eviction of Bianca Jagger.
- Lewis & Roberts and its co-counsel, Keller Rohrback, recently
reached a settlement with Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation to
resolve an ERISA class action alleging that Krispy Kreme
mismanaged the company's 401(k) and profit sharing plans. Lewis &
Roberts represents company employees who lost value in their
retirement accounts. The proposed cash settlement totals $4.75
million. In addition to the cash payment, Krispy Kreme has agreed
to make certain changes to the retirement plans. The settlement
remains subject to approval by the court.
- New data indicates that patients were at a higher risk of
heart attacks, heart disease, and strokes almost as soon as they
started taking Vioxx. Merck has provided new data to the FDA that
shows the increased risks. Please visit our

suffered a heart attack, heart disease or a stroke after taking
Vioxx.
- Lewis & Roberts is representing numerous clients against large
accounting firms (RSM McGladrey, PWC, KPMG, BDO Seidman), banks
(Wachovia, Deutsche Bank, First Union), investment houses
(Presidio, Gramercy Advisors, Quadra/Quellos) and law firms (Brown
& Wood, Pillsbury Madison, Jenkens & Gilchrist) related to abusive
tax shelters that cost our clients millions of dollars in fees and

- Lewis & Roberts was recently selected as having the second

- One of our partners, Tim Riordan, was recently elected as
Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Associations' Workers'
Compensation Section. Mr. Riordan succeeds another of our
partners, Brian Lake, in that position.
- Lewis & Roberts is currently investigating General Motors' Saturn
Vue which was voluntarily recalled on August 5, 2004. GM continued to sell new 2004 model Saturn Vues after announcing a recall for problems in the rear suspension that could allow a rollover crash. Please see our Saturn Vue page for more details.
- On September 30, 2004, Merck & Co. pulled the arthritis drug, Vioxx, from the worldwide market. Medical studies have shown that using Vioxx increases your risk to heart attack, stroke and cardiovascular disease. Please refer to our Vioxx page for more details.
- Two of Lewis & Roberts' partners (Jim Roberts and Dan Bryson) were named members of "North Carolina's Legal Elite" by Business North Carolina. Jim Roberts, in addition to being selected in the Litigation category of the magazine's annual survey, was also named the State's leading construction attorney.
- On January 5, 2004 Lewis & Roberts filed a class action against Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina on behalf of all North Carolina physicians. The doctors seek recovery of unpaid fees for medical treatment which were wrongfully withheld by BCBS of NC.
