Paul is a trial lawyer. He helps his clients resolve disputes by accepting, preparing and taking cases to trial. Paul understands the hard work and dedication necessary to present complicated issues to juries as his entire career has involved cases in litigation. It is his dedication and experience that have earned Paul the respect of his peers, clients and adversaries. Paul has been rated as preeminent in his field by obtaining the highest (AV) peer review rating available. Paul understands the difficulties individuals and their families face coping with large personal and financial losses from the wrongful acts of others. He uses his experience in working for his clients to hold those parties accountable for their actions.

Paul began his law practice in Houston, Texas defending complex personal injury and wrongful death cases before moving to Charlotte in 1994. His career has ranged from litigating individual cases to acting as national trial counsel for a large multinational manufacturer. His practice is now limited to representing clients who have suffered catastrophic personal injury or death, large financial losses and those involved in class actions. Paul has successfully tried wrongful death, personal injury and professional malpractice cases in multiple jurisdictions and courts. He has tried cases to juries in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Louisiana and obtained verdicts in excess of one million dollars in both state and federal courts. He recently obtained one of the largest jury verdicts for wrongful death in Johnston County, North Carolina. Paul is a partner of the firm and founder of the firm's Charlotte office. Paul is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars teaching other lawyers trial and litigation techniques. He has authored several papers on litigation techniques including a treatise chapter on trial evidence. He has also been interviewed on his work by numerous national and local media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, The BBC, The Nation, Democracy Now, The Charlotte Observer, The Raleigh News & Observer, North Carolina Lawyers Weekly, ARD TV (German Public Television), and TEC (French) Press. Additionally, Paul has worked with the national advocacy team at the Charlotte School of Law and has accepted numerous pro bono cases during his career.
